Not only is The Mist one of my favorite horror movies of the past decade, it could be one of my favorite MOVIES period. Here’s the rundown:
It’s written and directed by Frank Darabont whom I have loved ever since The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile and in recent years for bringing one of my favorite graphic novels The Walking Dead to the small screen. The cast of said t.v. show all star in this film, and churn out some brilliant performances; most notably Melissa McBride as the mother risking her life to venture alone through the mist – and the deadly monsters that lurk within – to get back to her unattended children, Laurie Holden as the town’s new school teacher who digs deep to find the courage to overcome her fear of the horror surrounding her, and Marcia Gay Harden as the religious fanatic Mrs. Carmoday who influences the terrorized patrons of the shopping centre into a mob justice mentality. The ending left my mouth agape with shock and incredible sympathy for lead character David Dryton (Thomas Jane).
The movie is well worth the watch. Check it out and let me know what you think.
